Applications Open for Trustee Seat for Area 3 (Big River/Earp/Chemehuevi/Havasu Landing)

Applications are now being accepted for the vacant Trustee seat for Area 2 in the City of Needles. The vacant seat will be filled by an appointment process starting at 5:00 pm at the next regular Board of Trustee meeting on Tuesday, December 15th. Applicants will interview in open session with the Board of Trustees, who will appoint to fill the seat following deliberation of all qualified candidates. Applications are available online and at the District Support Office. Applications are due to the District Office by 12:00 pm on Tuesday, December 15th.

Week of December 7th - 11th All Classes Will Be In Distance Learning

All classes will be held by Distance Learning this week December 7th to 11th in order to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff during our recent COVID-19 challenges. Grab and Go Meals will be held on Wednesday, December 9th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. All school site offices and the District Office will be open. Please call or email your child's school office if you have any questions.

Pearson Live Tutor Step By Step Directions

Thanks to Dr. Wilson, Asst. Principal, the following powerpoint explains how to access Live Tutor for all Pearson Core subject areas. Tutoring is available from 6:00am to 3:00pm for Language Arts, Science and Social Studies and from 6:00am to 8:00pm for Math. Please let your teacher and/or principal know if you have any more questions.

Board Meeting Link for Tuesday November 17th

The next Board of Trustees' meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 17th starting at 5:00pm with Opening and then Closed Session. The meeting will reopen to the public at 6:00pm.

Elementary Waivers are APPROVED!

Vista Colorado and Chemehuevi Valley Elementary Schools were granted waivers to reopen with COVID-19 restrictions today! Students will begin to return in various cohorts starting on October 26th. More information will be posted as soon as it is available. If you have not notified the office whether you want your child to return in person or to remain on distance learning, please call the Vista or Chemehuevi school office by noon on Friday, October 9th. If we do not hear from you, your child will remain on distance learning for 2nd quarter.

FREE Flu Shot and/or COVID-19 Test Available at Recreation Center

The SB County Public Health Department and the City of Needles will offer free flu shots and/or COVID-19 tests on Tuesday, Oct. 6th between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. FACE COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED! Walk-ins are welcome for flu shots but for COVID-19 testing appointments are recommended due to limited supplies. Call 909 387-3911 or visit to make an appointment for COVID-19 test.

NUSD Applies for Elementary Waivers to Reopen TK-5 in Small Groups

NUSD has submitted a waiver for Vista Colorado ES and Chemehuevi Valley ES to reopen in small group cohorts. Our proposed reopening date will be October 26th. We are in the planning phase now but we are looking at cohorts attending on a Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday schedule for 3 hours per day. More information will be posted as we develop further plans.


CENSUS staff are coming to Needles on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd at 7:00pm until Thursday, Sept. 24th at 7:00am. This will be an attempt at last minute contact with those who haven’t signed up yet. Signups will be at the El Garces, 950 Front St.
There will be FREE Subway Sandwich Meals and $20.00 Gift Cards to use at River City Pizza, Retro Pizza, Subway and Dairy Queen for those who sign up for the Census. We need you to be counted to help our city and schools out for the next 10 years.

Board Meeting Sept 22nd to Approve the Learning Continuity & Attendance Plan

This Tuesday, September 22nd, the Board meeting will consider the Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan that discusses the response last Spring following school closures as well as this fall starting with distance learning at this time for approval. Superintendent McNeil will also discuss the elementary waiver process for reopening elementary schools while following all State guidelines and procedures.
