COVID Safety Plan February 2021

As mandated by the State of California, NUSD has published plans for safety during COVID 19. This current plan, CSP (COVID SAFETY PLAN) adds to the plans already in existence, including Elementary Waivers (9/15/20) and Reopening Plan (8/4/20). Elementary students returned to campus in October, small cohorts of secondary students returned in October, and students in Big River returned in August. NUSD is committed to developing programs that support students on campus as outlined in these plans.

Update on Spring Semester 2021

We are starting Spring Semester 2021 in Distance Learning. If the transmission of positive cases in our community improves, we will return to small cohorts for elementary students and specific cohorts of students in secondary. Once our county moves into the red from purple, we will reopen our secondary programs in small cohorts for all students. As more information becomes available, it will be posted.

Grab and Go Meals Continue on Wednesdays

This week, Grab and Go Meals will be available on Wednesday, January 6th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the District Cafeteria, Needles Head Start and also at Chemehuevi School. Please wear a mask and maintain social distancing when picking up meals!

Current Status of NHS Sports for Second Semester 2021

The Governor of Nevada pushed back the start of sports from January 4th for the NIAA. On January 15th, Governor Sisolak will provide an update on the status of Winter, Fall and Spring sports for the NIAA. In order for NHS to play varsity sports this year, we will need both Nevada's Governor to provide approval for the NIAA as well as California's Public Health Department (CAPHD) to allow us to play as a California school district. CA PHD has identified the sports that can take place according to the status of the county (purple, red, orange, yellow). At this time, San Bernardino is in the purple, which indicates the most spread of the virus. This limits our ability to play at this time. CA DPH is working on the sports that are available during each of the color levels. This will be available shortly.

Schools to Remain on Distance Learning Through December 18th

All classes will be held by Distance Learning this week December 14th to 18th in order to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff during our recent COVID-19 challenges.
