Christine Lim is the recipient of a $2500 scholarship from the financial consulting group Caldwell Flores Winters. Christine wrote a competitive application and acquired letters of recommendation. Students from throughout California competed in this scholarship appication process and we are very proud of our honoree, Christine Lim!
The Board of Trustees is reconsidering the 2015-2016 school year calendar to meet the needs of the school community. Use the poll on this website home page to indicate how you feel about having Fall Break during Thanksgiving week or in October. Also, how you feel about having Spring Break before or after Easter. All votes must be received by Monday, February 16, 2015. The currently approved 2015-2016 and the two options that are being considered are available below.
This is a reminder that the last day of school is June 11, 2015 due to starting later last summer because of flooding from the monsoons. Graduation will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2015.

NUSD parent Carolynn Blair has been appointed by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to fill the long-time vacant seat for Area 1. Mrs. Blair will be sworn in at the November 18th Board of Trustees Meeting.
The Needles Board of Trustees conducted interviews and appointed Nancy Vandiver as Trustee for Area 3 representing Big River, Earp, Chemehuevi, Havasu Landing. Following the interview and affirmative vote in favor of her appointment, Ms. Vandiver took her seat on the Needles USD Board of Trustees. This vacancy became open when Michael Sleppy stepped down after many years of honorable service.
The Board of Trustees had the pleasure of listening to Devin Marquez from Vista Colorado ES read his award-winning essay on "Good Character" last night. This week Vista Colorado students and staff are working with renowned children's author Gary Hogg to motivate students to write using academic vocabulary. Student essays were selected for a recognition with the author, Mr. Hogg, in the Mustang Cafe. Devin Marquez and 14 other students were selected for the luncheon because of their outstanding essays. Good job Vista students! Good job Devin!
The Needles Chamber of Commerce recognized Dr. Mary McNeil as "Educator of the Year" at their annual dinner on October 11, 2014, for all of her work with her team in the Needles Unified School District. The district has added many programs and positions to support ALL students in learning at all levels throughout the district. Dr. McNeil is committed to a school community that focuses on bringing an extensive range of opportunities so that ALL students will learn and succeed!
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors will be appointing a trustee for Area 1 in the next few months. Interested individuals will have an opportunity to apply for the position and recommendations will be made to the county by the district. More information will be available shortly.
