Needles USD remembered 9/11 today with flags respectively at half-mast in honor of those lost in these devastating tragedies. In addition, elementary students honored these heroes with a remembrance first thing in the morning as part of class announcements and bulletin. NMS and NHS honored these memories as part of the day's Social Studies classes with discussions and video clips.
On Thursday, August 24th, Needles Middle School staff (Mrs. Breaux, Mr. Hatzenbuehler, Mr. Duchaineau, Mrs. Castillo, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Stahl, Principal Avila), District AVID Director Mrs. Armijo and Superintendent McNeil were on hand to support AVID Site Coordinator Mrs. Rowan at the first annual AVID Contract Signing for NMS students. Students in grades 6-7-8 and their parents signed their contract to commit to the AVID goals to celebrate their academic successes for the 2017-2018 school year! Celebrating ACADEMICS!
The eclipse can be a terrific teaching tool, however there can be safety issues to consider! Needles USD will take precautions to ensure that all students are safe as they can learn about this scientific phenomenon. Please read the attached information.
Needles USD has successfully applied for a grant that will allow ALL students to eat breakfast and lunch all this year! No payment will be necessary this year! Stop by and enjoy breakfast and lunch! The LCAP for 2017-2018 is part of this three year plan.
Each Spring, the Needles Unified SD evaluates their LCAP to determine program effectiveness, budget allocations, and areas in need of consideration for next year's LCAP goals. The survey can be taken online or by hard copy and then delivered to your child's school office. Survey results are all anonymous.
Calendar for the 2017-2018 School Year will have changes from this current year.
A recent judge's ruling has made it necessary for the District to provide confidential information about our Special Education students as far back as 2008 to a non-profit organization. Parents wishing to object to the District's providing this information may complete the attached letter and return it to your child's principal or the District Superintendent, Dr. McNeil. These letters will be forwarded to the Judge involved in this case.
The Needles City Council, led by Mayor Paget, honored the State Championship Girls Basketball Team, Lady 'Stangs and Coaches Calderon, Murch and McCorkle with a Proclamation on their Success! Thank you Needles City Council!
All those interested in our Safe Routes to School for students are invited to attend the meetings on Tuesday, December 6th at Vista Colorado at 8:00-9:00am and the Needles Middle School/Needles High School at 2:45-3:45! These meetings will allow for your input on ways to improve the areas surrounding these school sites to ensure student safety for ALL students! Meet in front of Vista Colorado at 8:00 and at the District Cafeteria at 2:45.
